A learning opportunity for anyone interested in the history and genealogy of Scottish ancestors who may have lived and/or worked in, on or around the water.  A full day of talks for only $20 Canadian ($10 for Scottish SIG OGS members).

All recordings will be available for 30 days after the event (until December 1, 2022!)

Customs and Excise Records presented by Alison Lindsay, NRS

 

 

Alison Lindsay has worked as an archivist in the National Records of Scotland for 30 years, most recently as Head of the Legal and Historical Search Rooms where every day she helps people seeking access to the 80km of records held there

 

 

Trinity House presented by Nicola Wright

 

 

Nicola Wright is a freelance storyteller, historical interpreter, tour guide and trainer. For Illuminate UK she provides workshops, tours, storytelling and training of the Junior Tour Guides at Leith, Linlithgow and Craigmillar. She is responsible for outreach and community engagement at Trinity House Maritime Museum.

 

 

 

Inverclyde Harbour Trust Records presented by Lorraine Murray

 

Lorraine Murray is the Archivist at The Watt Institution in Greenock and at The Glasgow Academy in Kelvinbridge. A former postgraduate student at The University of Glasgow obtaining degrees in Digital Media and Information Studies and History of Art [MA (hons)] and an MSc in Information Management, Digital Preservation and Archives.

 

 

 

 

CLIP (Crew List Index Project) presented by Pete & Jan Owens

 

 

Pete and Jan Owens have run the Crew List Index Project (CLIP) for the last 25 years, aiming to improve access to the records of seafarers of the late 19th and early 20th century.  We provide online information, data drawn from crew lists, and resources relating to British registered ships.
